Hello friends! Would you like to learn about our Morning Meetings? You have come to the right place! In our room, we follow the typical Morning Meeting Routine: Greeting, Sharing, Activity, and Message! The Morning Meeting has CHANGED our classroom community for the BETTER!! We listen to each more, practice empathy, and try our best to respect each other! We have transformed into a family and truly care for each other. My kiddos never let me skip any part of our morning meeting and talk about it throughout the day. If you do not have a morning meeting in your room…what are you waiting for?? (Don’t forget to check out my Morning Meeting FREEBIES in my TPT store!!)
Here is an example of our week…
Our Mondays are MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY!
Example:
💗Morning Greeting: In a circle, students turned to their right (one at a time) said good morning to their neighbor, gave their neighbor a compliment or said what made them special (ex. “I like when you draw pictures for me” or “Thank you for always making me laugh”), and then said “GoOoOo (insert name here)!” with a high-five!
💗 Morning Sharing: Students had the chance to share about a time when they felt good about themselves (students can always add in anything else they want to share).
💗 Morning Activity: We played Hot Potato! Woohoo! When a student was “out,” they practiced cheering on their friends!
💗 Morning Message: “Hello Super Kids! Let’s make today SUPER! What are some classroom superpowers that we all have?” (some answers included: super reader, super writer, never forget to write my name, super counter, always polite) We also looked for compound words and exclamation marks!
Our Tuesdays are TALENT TUESDAYS!
Example:
💗Morning Greeting: Students introduced themselves and described a talent they have! (Some examples were… “I am a good big sister.” “I can do a bridge in gymnastics.” “I can read hard books.” “I am good at karate.”)
💗 Morning Sharing: Students had the chance to share about a time when they shared a talent or saw a talent that they thought was interesting (students can always add in anything else they want to share).
💗 Morning Activity: We always practice a little “talent!” Today, we walked around the classroom with a small book on our heads…and saw how far we could walk without the book falling!
💗 Morning Message: “Good Morning my Talented Students! Don’t forget to smile today boys and girls! Sharing your smile with others is a special talent. How can you make someone smile today?” We also looked for nouns, verbs, and punctuation marks!
Our Wednesdays are WACKY WEDNESDAY!
Example:
💗Morning Greeting: Students stood in a circle and one at a time, a student would throw a ball and call out a number of a student…that student would catch it (hopefully 😂) and introduce themselves with a silly name!! They are so creative! Princess names were popular!
💗 Morning Sharing: Students could share about a time when something silly happened to them (and of course could add in whatever else they wanted to).
💗 Morning Activity: One of our favorites…on Wacky Wednesdays they get to bounce little super balls/bouncy balls around the room to a Kidz Bop song! 💗 Morning Message: “Hello Crazy Kids! Let’s come up with a wacky rhyme!” (We then wrote a poem together).
Our Thursdays are THOUGHTFUL THURSDAY!
Example:
💗Morning Greeting: Students introduced themselves and shared their favorite part of our classroom and school.
💗 Morning Sharing: Students shared a time when they helped a friend and when a friend helped them (and they could add anything they wanted).
💗 Morning Activity:Each student was given a construction paper heart…decided who to give it to…and then wrote a sentence and drew a picture to brighten that person’s day!
💗 Morning Message: “Hello Caring Kids! How can we fill buckets today? Give me some examples!”
Our Fridays are FUN FRIDAY! Of course!
Example:
💗Morning Greeting: Snowball greeting!! Students write their name on a little piece of paper…we stand in a circle…and then throw the paper around like snowballs for one minute (we spent A LOT OF TIME practicing how to nicely throw and where to throw). When the minute is over, students open the paper they last picked up, read the name, and give that person a high-five and say good morning!
💗 Morning Sharing: Students get to share anything they want to today!!
💗 Morning Activity: On Friday, we always have a DANCE PARTY to Kidz Bop songs! YAY!!!!!
💗 Morning Message: We work together to create a story using a word family or pattern!
There are SO many things that you can incorporate into your morning meeting! Give it a try today…I PROMISE you and your kiddos will not regret it!!!
