Hi ladies and gentlemen! HAPPY MARCH! Well, it has been a HOT MINUTE since I have posted!! Like 2 years to be exact…but I’m back…back again…Katie’s back…tell a friend. Ok…don’t hate me…but I had to do it!
Today, I am talking about my “Luck of the Centers”/St. Patrick’s Day Literacy and Math Centers! I love St. Patrick’s Day! Why? Not quite sure! Anyway, all of these centers are available in my TPT Store…Apples Alone…as individuals or as a bundle for a great discounted price! These centers come with recording sheets and are available in color and black & white…I’ve got your back!!
Let’s start with the LITERACY CENTERS! Because…reading is my favorite to teach! These centers are based on phonics…syllables, “magic” e, and middle sounds (short vowels). Even though they are called centers, these activities can be completed in whole group settings and guided reading groups…therefore making differentiation a breeze! Let’s jump in!
The “Luck of the Syllables” requires students to sort words based on 1 syllable, 2 syllables, or 3 syllables! Students can’t resist the rainbows in this center!
The “Luck of the Short Vowels” require students to listen for the middle sound in a word and identify it! Hearing the middle sound in a word is notoriously hard for students at this age, so this center is a must!
In the “Luck of the Magic E” students explore with…you guessed it…the MAGIC E! Or bossy e…whatever floats your boat! Students add the “magic e” to CVC words and change them to CVCe words. Students read the word out loud prior to adding the “e’ and afterwards.
Alright…moving right along to math!
The “Luck of the Dice” requires students to count the numbers on the die or add them…and match them to the correct number! This helps with number recognition, addition, and introduces them to subitizing!
In the “Luck of the Plus,” students look at the equations on the 4-leaf clovers and match them to the sums on the pots of gold! SO MUCH GOLD!
In the “Luck of the Minus,” students look at the equations on the 4-leaf clovers and match them to the differences on the pots of gold!
Thank you so much for visiting my blog and reading all about my St. Patrick’s Day Literacy and Math centers! I hope you and your students enjoy these centers! Please tag me on Instagram (applesalone) if you use one of my centers!
Have a great day and remember that teachers can’t survive on apples alone! Take care of yourselves.
